New Pictures

I just got these pictures from my bachelor party. One is of me shooting a 30 Carbine. I really like that Rifle! The other two are Patrick and David shooting the .454 This is the big brother to Dirtty Harry's 400 magnum. It has a whale of a punch. Just thought I'd post these today.

Josh is right!

We are guilty of blog neglect. Josh has a great take on all of us not blogging regularly, which I think is really funny. Josh is also a great guitar player that I admire. He taught me quite a few chords and tricks to playing that have allowed me to do what I'm doing now with my writing and recording. So here's to Josh! Thanks for what you've done for me. Stay tuned for the next thank you of the month.

Encouragement from friends

I just finished reading my friend Kirk Hagan's blog, the link is on the right, and was really encouraged by it. Kirk has this unique ability to speak truth and at the same time be really funny. He mentored me, mostly by example, while I was at Georgia Southern and many of those lessons still help me out today. Kirk's biggest lesson that he taught me was that people are important enough to spend time with, even if it means being a few minutes late to whatever you have going on next. Kirk invested a large amount of time in many people and it was always with a smile on his face. Kirk played a large part in my life a college and when he left I was blessed by Robyn! I hope that all of you have a Kirk in your lives that has blessed you in some way. Let them know, after all it is the season to be giving gifts. What better gift could you give to somebody than to say "Thank You!". So thank you Kirk!
More thank you's to come, in fact that may be the blog theme for the next few posts. Beth is finishing her last week of weekend work!!!! Can I tell you how happy I am to be getting my wife back!!! I'm also still banging away on my NCAA Football 07 in between trying to record some music. Well that's all for now!

Recording music

Well I finally did it. I recorded and produced a song that I've written all on my own. I played all of the instruments myself and did the vocals too. It took me just over 4 and a half hours to do it all. It was work and fun at the same time. I even managed to learn a few things on the software, Adobe Audition, that I can use at work. After I finished the whole process I got to thinking about life and how it relates to recording. Jesus is always adding to the song of our lives. At times he lowers the volume on some of the tracks and raises it on others, changing the sound and effect that our life has. I've been struggling with where I am right now in my job, and with what I'm supposed to do with the music he's given to me. This was a great lesson for me to learn not to focus on what's not playing in my song, but what is playing. Interesting stuff.

Weekend Shift, Ink stained clothes, and a new amp!

Its been a busy couple of weeks. Beth has been working weekend shifts for the 3rd week and I hate it! I never get to see her and when I do its just to sleep and eat. Thankfully she has one more weekend left until she goes back on her normal shift. Its like she has been gone on this huge trip and I'm ready for her to come home. Now that we're done with that, on to funnier things. We are now the proud owners of several shirts and pants that are ink dotted, darn pens. The wife was less than happy and I totally had to apologize for my reaction. Any tips for the ink stains? This learning to live together is harder than it looks most of the time. Thankfully I have a wonderfully forgiving and loving wife who forgives me for being stupid. So I've had an interesting week.
I got my birthday present in from the local music store in last week on Wednesday! I got a new Line 6 Spider 3 amp. http://www.line6.com/spideriii/75.html It rocks! I'm still learning how to use some of the effects, because being a guy the plays mostly acoustic guitar I don't have a clue what I'm doing. The whole tap tempo thing for delay is still somewhat confusing but I'm learning. Hopefully that crazy guitar playing Josh Burnham can show me how to use it.
The party invites hit the mail today, so I hope to see you guys soon.
